THEY EXPAND THE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR LAND TRANSIT IN PUERTO NUEVO
The Port of Buenos Aires continues with the works plan started several years ago to optimize logistics operations, order heavy traffic in its jurisdiction and maximize security in the movement of cargo in the port area.
The General Port Administration, the decentralized body under the transport ministry that controls Puerto Nuevo, will double the infrastructure capacity for trucks in the port support zone (ZAP).
The ZAP is the area where trucks with export or empty containers to deliver to the terminals await their turn to enter the terminals, or even those waiting for the delivery of an import or empty container to be transferred to a shipper that will consolidate exports. .
This area specially designed for the ordering and decongestion of traffic in the arteries of the Port of Buenos Aires has multiple services for drivers such as dining room, restrooms and rest areas.
“The 125 exclusive parking spaces prior to the start of the work will be expanded by 95%, adding an area of 24,800m². This is complemented with areas already enabled to park and classify port traffic for some 400 additional vehicles”, they indicated from the AGP.
On the other hand, the AGP is advancing in the work of the single access to the port with the extension of Calle 14 that will have 8 lanes for heavy traffic.
This income, accompanied by reforms and improvements in the enclosures, will allow to unify access and controls throughout the port jurisdiction. In addition, thanks to the channeling of heavy traffic and its connection with the Paseo del Bajo, new safe pedestrian circulation spaces will be generated in parallel with accessible and regulatory ramps”, they indicated.
The works are framed in the Master Works Plan, approved by resolution 106/2020 of the national port authority, which contemplates “the renovation and execution of redesign works of land accesses, the consolidation of the surface over the river by filling with suitable material, the recovery of inoperative port areas for a more efficient use of port land in general”.
“All of this –they continued with the purpose of grouping the cargo port activities and the land access node to the north of the jurisdiction (both road and rail), concentrating the activity in the Dársena F area, providing more efficiency to operations and promoting multimodalism within the jurisdiction”.
