Nearly one month after committing to summon and report companies operating informally, SOMU, Marina Mercante, and the Patrones organization have taken no action in this regard. This became evident during today’s meeting with CESLAA, where union representatives argued that it is the companies themselves that should be responsible for filing complaints and initiating actions against irregular operators.

This position surprised business representatives. Monitoring labor compliance and reporting irregularities are functions traditionally carried out by labor unions, not by employers.

The situation particularly harms companies that operate within the legal framework. Competition from informal operators, who do not bear labor or social security costs, creates an uneven playing field that threatens the viability of businesses that comply with their obligations.

In this context, CESLAA confirmed that it will not open the 2026–2027 collective bargaining negotiations until the sector is regularized. The chamber maintains that it is impossible to discuss wage conditions while unfair competition from informal operators continues to exist.
