TPS: “MUJERES A BORDO” PROGRAM HAS IMPACTED THE VISIBILITY OF WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP
Project celebrated the graduation of 26 women to positions of responsibility
A total of 26 female employees in leadership positions within Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso, TPS, graduated from the “Women On Board” program, developed to enhance the skills and achieve full integration of women who are part of the organization, both in administrative and operational roles, and framed in the program of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion promoted by the Terminal since 2022.
“Women on Board” was specially designed at TPS with the support of the expert consultant Be Kairos, to address potential gender challenges in a traditionally male industry where more and more women are joining.
After two years of implementation, 16 female employees of the first generation graduated as mentors after attending the women’s leadership workshops in 2023, during which they received personalized and group coaching sessions that provided tools and offered support and containment in the face of new challenges that may arise.
Subsequently, the employees who so decided were trained as mentors, graduating this year and qualifying to support other women who take on positions of responsibility, while another 10 women formed the second generation that began in 2024 and completed the leadership workshops. In this way, the first group graduated with the objective of supporting the second, and thus giving continuity to the program in a sustainable and meaningful way.
Vanessa Ramirez, head of Organizational Development at TPS and leader of the program, noted during the graduation ceremony that “Mujeres a Bordo makes us very proud, as it was created to support women who were taking on leadership roles and responsibilities within the company. The objective was to empower them and make them aware that they are valued for the merits that have brought them to the position they occupy today, and that we do not need them to masculinize their role in order to be successful. We are very happy because this was amply accomplished”.
Ghislaine Cadiz, manager and senior consultant of Be Kairos, explained that “with this graduation, the training of the group of participants who started the 2023 as mentors, and those who completed the women’s leadership workshop, was concluded. A third milestone was the closing of the workshop for the heads of these women, which trained them in strategies to enhance their role. It was very moving to review the achievements and to see that many of the members of the Women on Board community are moving up and taking on new responsibilities within TPS and even occupying the position of general manager in another company, as is the case of Laura Chiuminatto. It is very remarkable the visibility that is being given to the development and promotion of women”.
Given the success of this project, it is expected to be replicated in the future to strengthen not only female leadership, but also that of the different TPS work teams.
