Rates for Handysize, Supramax and Ultramax to Asia were set at US $ 20,000, US $ 27,000 and US $ 28,000

The charter rates for bulk vessels for the West Coast of South America (Callao) – Far East route (Fig. A) reported during week 16 of 2021 were US $ 20,000 for Handysize vessels, representing 118% of the reference rate of the Baltic Dry index (BHSI), marking an increase of US $ 2,000 over the previous week. For Supramax vessels, the rate reached US $ 27,000, equivalent to 118% of the BSI, with US $ 3,000 higher than the previous week. Meanwhile, the rate for Ultramax vessels was US $ 28,000, positioning itself at 122%, compared to the BSI benchmark index and registering an increase of US $ 3,000 over week 15.

On the West Coast of South America (Callao) -North Europe route (Fig. B), charter rates for Handysize vessels were US $ 15,000, equivalent to 76% of the BHS reference rate and marking an increase of US $ 1,500. The Supramax vessels reached rates of US $ 18,000, equivalent to 78% of the BSI reference segment and registering an increase of US $ 2,500 over the previous week.

 

Regarding the spot rates of concentrates (copper, zinc, lead) for the shipment of 11,000 metric tons to the Far East (Fig. C), the estimate in Chile is around US $ 50 (low mid) and from Peru it is from US $ 40 (mid). In addition, the minimum estimate for the spot rate for the shipment of 22,000 metric tons in Chile is US $ 50 (low) and US $ 40 (low mid) from Peru. The estimate for the shipment of 22,000 metric tons from Chile to two ports (Far East) with a previous call is around US $ 50 (low mid) and with a call from Peru to two ports is US $ 40 (mid).
